FAQ

Will the self-hosted tier always be free?

Yes. MIT license, no nag screens, no 'community edition' rug-pull. The cloud tier funds the project — the open-source core stays open.

Do I need a custom domain?

No. Every install gets a free <yourname>.sudoterm.com subdomain via Cloudflare Tunnel. Bring-your-own-domain is a Phase 2 feature.

Why do AI features need my own API key?

Because we don't want to be a middleman for AI traffic. You pay your provider directly. Your key is AES-256-GCM-encrypted at rest.

Will my data ever leave my server?

In Phase 1, no. The only traffic to sudoterm.com is the initial subdomain registration (one HTTP call from install.sh) and the cloudflared tunnel handshake. Everything else stays local.
